About this Item

Light green wraps. 239 pages. With a typewritten letter from Coughlin laid in, SIGNED by Father Coughlin. The letter, with The Little Flower masthead concerns the book and the fact that whomever the letter was addressed to would be unable to hear Coughlin on the radio. Folded into six rectangles, the upper left rectangle of the letter is MISSING, where it is presumed the recipient's name would have been. The first part of the letter on this rectangle is also missing. The book is a collection of sermons or speeches given by Father Coughlin on a variety of topics including prohibition, an address the the Lindbergh baby kidnappers, politics, finance etc. Coughlin was a Roman Catholic priest, critical of communism and capitalism, as well as controversial for his anti-Semitic commentary and support of some of Hitler's and Mussolini's policies. The book is in FAIR/GOOD condition, with the covers rather worn. Moderate uneven fading, minor to moderate soiling and some creasing, especially to the corners, affecting the wraps. Offsetting present to the rear cover. Upper hinge torn and frayed. Faint math problem in pencil to the rear cover. Interior front hinge cracked and separating from the binding. Text block solid with minor scattered soiling. Bookseller Inventory # 005072
