New Edition, title page dated 1881 with no additional printings listed. Clean and tight binding in rust cloth with gilded titles and textblock. Shelf and edge wear with slight fading to spine titles, remains Very Good. The contents show a few penned notations and some inner hinge separations not affecting the binding integrity. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. There is a handwritten number and Mercantile Library stamp on the title page and some of the internal pages, including several of the color bird plates. There are no external indications of the library's ownership.
