Scarce Budapest (actually Pest) printing of this standard work by Mannheimer (1793-1865), the celebrated Danish-born Jewish preacher, who established Vienna's first Jewish congregation in 1816. An attractive set, bound in period dark green morocco, deeply embossed in blind and decorated in gilt, all edges gilt, textured endpapers (some minor rubbing to covers; several inner hinges split, needs recasing but outwardly still beautiful). PROVENANCE: The set has several ink inscriptions dating from 1872 to 1876 as gifts within the Engel family. Size: 8vo - over 7�" - 9�" tall.
