Published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Realschule der israelitischen Gemeinde in Frankfurt. The Philanthropin existed from 1804 until its closure by the Nazi's in 1942. With up to 1,000 students, it was one of the largest and longest running Jewish schools in Germany. Illustrated with b/w photographic reproductions of the faculty, as well as five plates in rear of decorative ornaments and furniture of the school. Two plates in fold-out. Includes several essays and studies by the school's faculty. Text in German, gothic script. Eight-page "Verzeichnis der Schüler des jüdischen Philanthropins zu Frankfurt a.M. vom Januar bis August 1813," laid-in. Age wear and staining on binding. Hinges slightly starting. One folding plate with parts of fore-edge missing, top part of fore edge repaired with tape. Presentation plate pasted on inside of front board: "Höhere Mädchenschule der isr. Gemeinde (Philantropin). Der Schülerin Anna Mayer als Anerkennung für Fleiss und gutes Betragen. Frankfurt a.M., den 14. April 1905. (Signed) Direktor D. Adler." We are a rental source for movie and tv production, occasionally providing the prop on which the plot turns. USPS Media mail is typically $5 for a book of average weight. Priority mail varies, depending on whether USPS flat-rates are applicable and advantageous for the dimension, weight and distance.

International First Class typically starts at $20. International Priority is typically $35 or less if under four pounds weight, and starts at $40 if over four pounds. International Express is a faster and more expensive option.
