Top of spine chipped, else very good. Howes R-353. Robertson travelled in the United States in 1853 and 1854, and emphasizes topics of interest to "mercantile men." He visited New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, before travelling to Virginia, South Carolina, and Louisiana. He then saw Louisville, St. Louis, and Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Boston. Along the way he observed trade in sugar, coal, cotton, tobacco, and wheat, the fabric mills of Lowell, and many other features of contemporary trade, transport, and society.
