Half-title: Richard Jeffries' Last Essays. Contains 28 essays in all (chiefly concerning the natural wonders of the English countryside), plus the concluding poem 'My Chaffinch', and the editor's short preface (signed 'J. J.'). With publisher's 16-page catalogue ('General List of Works'), dated June 1888 at rear.
