Synopsis: It's a prickly world out there! Can you see the flowers? Or has life buried you under the briar patch? Flowers or thistles? Thankfully, we get to choose, but have you ever felt troubled in your choice-making? Out of the Desert, Softly author, Dianne Finnegan Wilson, now leads us deeper into heavenly resolve with 366 days of practical encouragement for hearts torn in two. Once again, Wilson boldly penetrates the crusty soul with a challenge to take the hand of the One who knows how to mend hearts broken by life. Illuminating her own unsightly battle scars, she empowers us to hold on tight when the world tries to pull us apart. You will find more subtle humor, more surprising poignancy, and greater comfort than you thought possible throughout these pages, dubbed Earthy Devotions. As you embark upon yet another expedition into the depths of your being, Finding the Flowers in a Prickly World will reward your courageous journey with fresh purpose, peace, and renewed confirmation that you are, truly, never alone.
About the Author: Dianne Finnegan Wilson hails from Downers Grove, Illinois. She received her liberal arts education from Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa, and a Bachelor of Music degree from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. During her years of balancing career responsibilities with home and children, Ms. Wilson enjoyed several diverse opportunities in the areas of education, music, and theater. From 1982 through 1994, as a nationally certified addictions counselor, she focused her career efforts on working with alcoholics and other drug addicts in the arena of inpatient treatment, case coordination, crisis intervention, and program management. In 1996, Ms. Wilson found herself in the desert wilderness of northwestern Arizona, having relocated from Chicago suburbia following a disabling medical crisis. Here she began a healing journey with Jesus, from which her first set of devotionals, Out of the Desert, Softly, was born. We were amazed at the reception Desert gained among people of all ages, walks of life, and religious, or non-religious, conviction. Testimonies poured in to reveal that God has touched many hearts as they sojourned Out of the Desert, Softly. Finding the Flowers in a Prickly World is bolder, and meatier, says Wilson. Focusing on the Flowers manuscript helped me to overcome a cancer diagnosis, and resulting surgery, in 2007. I pray it will bless others through the prickly places they might encounter as they travel through life s uncertainty. If you liked Out of the Desert, Softly, I think you are going to love Finding the Flowers in a Prickly World. Wilson still enjoys volunteer work, music, grandchildren, walks in the desert with her wonderfully God-given husband, Jay, and their little dog, Katie Beth. Three children s books and two larger fiction works are on her next horizon, Along with a garden! she laughs. It s time to plant a garden.
