114p, boards, unclipped dj that is slightly soiled at rear, Probably self-published. Inscribed and signed by the author to a fellow member of the clergy. Poems mainly on religious and sentimental themes but also on slavery and freedom, racial equality, and woman suffrage. Walker, Sr. spend most of his life in North Carolina after being born and raised in Kentucky. His son James Walker, Jr. credited his father with inspiring his civil rights litigation and direct action. Walker Jr. helped African Americans to attempt to register to vote during the 1950s, and won a 1961 suit against North Carolina's literacy test before that state's Supreme Court.
