About this Item

******4to hardcover in black/white checkered leatherette boards with Caduceus symbol on front. Near Fine/: Boards exhibit very minor smudging from routine handling; text itself clean & bright. B/W and tinted Photographs. 99pp+ adds. History/year book of Stanford Medical School in Palo Alto, California from its earliest days in San Francisco, through its years on Clay St., to its present sunny location on the Peninsula. Includes essays 'The First Hundred Years' by Windsor Cutting M.D.,and 'Forty Years on Clay Street' by Loren Chandler, M.D. Departmental-and Administration-profiles by department chairs also included, as are year book pictures of medical students 1959-1962 and nursing student pictures by class year. Terrific vintage photographs throughout (a photo from the Radiology dept's history of a patient lying on the floor submitting to an early Linear Accelerator therapy is particularly striking as it demonstrates how far medicine has come in the intervening years.) Altogether a very nice copy of a book that gives a unique insight into the early beginnings of one of the world's most pre-eminent medcial institutions. #1008hbr.
