Synopsis: Linda Thomas uses her experience teaching small business owners and MBA students to talk about increasing sales. Whether your field is medical, manufacturing, industrial, retail, or real estate, this book is full of tips and techniques that increase your sales numbers and decrease your frustration. Starting with setting yourself up for success, Linda talks about how to create an office in your car, a tickler system, and an atmosphere for achievement. She then covers research and preparation, making sales calls, following up, and client maintenance. She also includes a ton of information on how to communicate with different styles to be sure your prospects are hearing you. As a bonus, a whole chapter is devoted to how to find new prospects. All in all this book is great for those just getting started in sales, or those needing a refresher. Even the most seasoned salesperson could gain something from reading Linda's latest book.
About the Author: Linda grew up in Port Orchard, Washington and graduated from South Kitsap High School. Shortly after starting her freshman year at the University of Washington, a serious car accident put her education on hold. To pay her overwhelming medical bills from a year of recovery, she entered the job market. She started simply as a proofreader at a newspaper and wound through an employment agency, a telephone company, a freight rater, a mechanical engineering firm, a school district, and a CPA firm. In 1974, Linda began a small business accounting office and built up a substantial client base before deciding to enter politics in 1982. Her first run at the Washington State legislature was met with defeat. With doubled determination, she ran again and won the election, serving for two years as the state legislator for the 26th district. When folks ask why she only served one term she says, "because I said what I thought instead of worrying about re-election". If you then ask her if she is sorry, she says she wouldn't do it any other way. Linda re-entered the job market and progressed from Human Resources Manager to Operations and General Manager of a major manufacturing company. During this time, she earned her BA in Ecological Agriculture from The Evergreen State College and her MBA in Managerial Leadership from City University. Linda then again went into business for herself as a business consultant. She spent seven years as Executive Director at a Puget Sound law firm while maintaining a loyal client base until semi-retiring to part-time consulting work in human resources, work styles, and training. Linda now serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Wilcox Farms, and maintains a wide network of friends and clients. Linda has previously published "Payroll Taxes Without Tears" and "Secrets of the South Sound Networking Queen". She has taught for City University's Masters Program in The Slovak Republic two separate years. She now lives with her husband Fred in Tacoma, Washington.
