About this Item

Fine in spine faded dust jacket, which otherwise shows very little wear. A highspot in American literature that made its author a celebrity, inspired an Academy Award-winning movie (the 5 big awards, though Kesey himself wasn't entirely pleased with it), and changed the way people thought about mental institutions, drugs, and authority. While many see it as representative of the tumult of the 1960s, Kesey was wont to place himself between The Beats and the countercultural groups of the sixties: "I was too young to be a beatnik, and too old to be a hippie." Perhaps that makes it timeless. Bookseller Inventory # D1845
