Octavo, hardcover, contemporary half olive calf and marbled boards, with decorative gilt-paneled spine, and red and black leather spine labels. iv, 260, indexed. With 13 full-page hand-colored plates. Covers lightly worn, with top joint starting, but covers still secure. Two plates lightly foxed, but otherwise internal contents very good to fine. About very good overall. First Edition. Joseph Harrison (d. 1858?) was head gardener to Lord Wharncliffe at Wortley Hall, near Sheffield. He edited the Floricultural Cabinet for over twenty years before turning it over to his sons in 1855, who carried it up to the twenty-seventh volume in 1859. Bookseller Inventory # 8823
