About this title

Synopsis:

Enjoy the beauty of natural Florida every day

This sixteen-month wall calendar features the work of some of Florida’s most beloved nature photographers. For more than two decades, Florida Forever has been preserving natural Florida by purchasing individual parcels of land to protect them from development. Yet nearly three million acres of sensitive land and water have been identified that are still in desperate need of protection.

In these troubled economic times, continuing support from the state is in jeopardy.  For the third year in a row, Florida’s leading conservation photographers have committed their time and effort to support Florida Forever and the work of the Florida Forever Coalition. Each month in this beautiful calendar features a photograph of a high-value landscape from the Department of Environmental Protection's priority acquisition list.

The lenses of Clyde Butcher, James Valentine, Jeff Ripple, John Moran, Carlton Ward Jr., Eric Zamora, and others reveal stunning vistas, endangered shorelines, and primeval forests that could all-too-easily be replaced by houses, shopping malls, restaurants, and asphalt parking lots. Unless swift action is taken, these areas could be lost forever.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each calendar will enable educational outreach supporting Florida Forever as well as conservation photography fellowships and scholarships by the Legacy Institute for Nature & Culture (LINC).

The mission of the Legacy Institute for Nature & Culture is to raise awareness for natural environmental and cultural legacies, educate about important connections between human societies and natural ecosystems, and promote conservation of natural heritage. Visit www.linc.us for more information.
