A reprinting using the original plates of the 1882 edition but suppressing the page numbers and even using the same binding, this is (like it) striking as a => spacious, large-format production. The => 10 chromolithographed botanical illustrations of blood-root, pasture thistle, partridge-berry, the pitcher-plant, pale laurel, meadow beauty, bur-marigold, climbing hemp-weed, white bay, and cardinal-flower are each one accompanied by a prose description and thematically appropriate poetic selections. Binding: Publisher's brown cloth with beveled edges, front cover with elegant decorative title and vignette of => Eastlake ilk stamped in gilt, red, and black; spine with gilt- and black-stamped title and floral motifs. All edges gilt. Folio (32.5 cm, 12.8"). pp.; 10 col. plts. Binding as above, light wear to extremities. One plate with inner margin reinforced and unobtrusive repairs to edge chipping. A very few light spots and smudges, generally clean. => Lovely, elegant, and extremely giftable. Bookseller Inventory #
