Dull yellow printed wraps, reminiscent of the magazine 'The Chap-Book.' 32 pp. The first issue of this little magazine. Walter Blackburn Harte established this little magazine as an 'intellectual revolt against the tyrannical, intolerant Smugocracy in letters,' (MacLeod, American Little Magazines of the 1890s, p. 62). The magazine folded after 5 issues, with Harte joining forces with Hubbard of the Roycrofters and Philistine magazine. This issue includes 'The New Mysticism' by Jonathan Penn; 'The Yellow Girl,' by Ben Franklin, Jr. etc. GOOD condition. Moderate fading. Minor soiling and toning. Heavy chipping, with some loss, along the extremities and corners. Light toning in the interior. Bookseller Inventory # 010149
