About this Item

"This book was written in response to the need for a textbook in forage management. It was developed largely from the course in forage problems taught at the University of Wisconsin, Because of the demand for the first edition it was deemed desirable to revise and expand the material covered. It is hoped that the book may be found of value in similar courses in other schools and as a reference to those interested in forage crops. The book attempts to emphasize the application of the principles of plant physiology to ther culture and management of forage species important in the north central and northeastern areas {the North} of the United States. It is quite apparent today that a discussion of forage management should be based on the principles of plant physiology and chemistry. It is important that the student have some understanding of the internal processes of the plant and of the application of this knowledge to crop production. Too often, the student is taught how and/or when a certain practice is applied with little emphasis being placed on ther physiological responses of the plant which usually determine the result obtained." This book has 219 pages and is illustrated throughout. The text contains NO internal marks whatsoever. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 062149
