About the Author: Sr. Grandmaster Edward B. Sell is the highest ranked non-oriental in the world in Taekwondo. His credentials (held with the World Taekwondo Federation and the World Chung Do Kwan Association) and reputation are world renown. Sr. Grandmaster Sell is a 9th Degree Black Belt (August 1997) and has more than 40 years of experience in the study, training, research, and teaching of one of the world's most effective forms of self defense. He is an International Master and official, the first American to receive International Referee Certification in Korea, 1974. He is Founding President of the following: United States Chung Do Kwan Association, Korean Taekwondo Association of America, Taekwondo Rangers, Christian Taekwondo University, and The Sell Team (International Christian Demonstration Team). He was the first coach of the U. S. team in the 1st World Taekwondo Championship, Korea, 1973, and Master Instructor in Policeman's Combative Tactics. He has promoted more than 5000 Black Belts in his career and his teaching principles have exposed nearly 250,000 American students. Grandmaster Brenda J. Sell started her Taekwondo training at the age of 14. Today she is an 8th Degree Black Belt and an expert in all areas of teaching Taekwondo. Grandmaster Sell was the first woman to test for 8th degree in March 2003. In 1977 she became the first woman in the world to ever received International Referee Credentials from the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). In 1989 she received a Letter of Citation from WTF President Un Yong Kim, and was name Black Belt of the Decade. She is president of the United States Chung Do Kwan Association and The Sell Team. She continues to improve the creditability of female students and takes special interest in the teaching and motivation of children. During her training she has accumulated innumerable trophies and awards in both Sparring and Forms competition on local, state, and national levels. Today she is the National Forms Coordinator and teaches seminars across the country on ways to improve forms for tournament competition and promotions.
