About this Item

1 page on "Ritz-Carlton Hotel" stationery, 8.5 x 5.75 inches, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, no date but postmarked on October 26, 1950. In this letter, Silvers thanks "Philadelphia Inquirer" writer Harry Harris for a positive article, in full: "Dear Harry or should I say 'wonder man' how you ever came up with that real entertaining article with the dull things I told you, I'll never know -- to each his own, I guess. Nevertheless I'm very grateful for it and this note is sort of a small thank you for same. Even if I get stoned by the cabbies in town it's worth it. Thanks again and the best to you always. Phil Silvers." Two horizontal folds but otherwise in fine condition. Set in a gray matte beside a five-inch square photo of Silvers in character beside an actor dressed in Native American Indian attire, with a patterned silver frame measuring 13 x 16 inches. Additional signature on the original handwritten, postmarked envelope, housed neatly in a plastic sleeve on the back of the frame. American entertainer and comedy actor, known as "The King of Chutzpah.". Bookseller Inventory # 254864
