Minor stains Dr. Darby was an early Dentist in Upstate New York beginning in 1865. He was honored in 1915 by the Sixth District Dental Society. He spoke at the N. Y. State Dental Society 1918 which is recorded in their Transactions of the Dental Society pp. 38-40. He was the oldest living president at that time. In this speech he describes pulling a tooth from Samuel Clemens. We have a carbon copy of this talk courtesy of Frederick D. Petrie also of Elmira, NY. We also have other earlier manuscript drafts for speeches on other subjects including his arrival in 1854; about Rev. Chauncy Darby of Chenango County, NY; a desire in his youth for books; "Then and Now" presented in 1927 to the Dental Society in Elmira; plus other notes. We are including 4 sizable letters written to and from Frederick D. Petrie of Elmira who was a grandson of Dr. Darby. One Petrie letter describes a solar eclipse on 1925. Bookseller Inventory #
