About this Item

Small 4to. Stiff tan wrappers. 30pp. Near fine. Tight, handsome issue of this short-lived semi-annual, which began in 1948 and appears to have halted in the mid-1950s. This issue contains Raymond L. Hazlet's "Will There Be an FDR Legend?" and Elmer Gertz's "Roosevelt and Stevenson: Their First Presidential Campaigns" -- and this copy bears a fine autograph addition, for tipped to the inside of the front wrapper, facing the title page, is a fine archival decorative-edged bookplate signed boldly by Gertz (who adds "Sincerely") in black fineline. Gertz (1902-2000), known as "The Clarence Darrow of Chicago," was a controversial defense attorney remembered for defending novelist Henry Miller, Lee Harvey Oswald's murderer Jack Ruby and notorious child murderer Nathan Leopold.
