About this title

Synopsis:

During the Great Depression, Barbara Ann was born in Bossier City, Louisiana. The child of a broken marriage, she never meets her father, but she has a vendetta to get back at him one day. Her mother marries a World War II Army Air Corps serviceman, and Barbara becomes an Air Force brat. She swears she ll never divorce and have to go through what her mother went through, but life has its way of taking charge. Bar-bran, as she s called, takes us through many of her childhood memories, including the skeleton in her closet that she never wanted to reveal. She takes all the knocks that life throws at her, but comes out with a string of college degrees to show the world that she can prevail. She knows abuse, struggle, pitfalls, love, hate, failure and success. She becomes a college professor, and defies all odds. As a driven individual, perseverance is her middle name. She had no help; she did it all herself. She s very strong minded and quite the rebel - nothing like you would expect to come out of the Deep South. She marries an Air Force officer, has two sons, becomes a grandmother, and starts all over again. There s no stopping her.
