About this Item

The remainder of the title continues ' af den evangelisk-lutherske Pastoralkonferents i St.Louis, Mo.'. Norwegian language. 1867 date on the title page; no additional printings. Hardcover in marbled boards with green cloth spine. Small fraying at head of spine. The endpapers show considerable foxing, although the text does not. The front free endpaper carries the gift inscription from Reverend J. W. Preus (Johan Wilhelm Preus, 1861-1925) to Lars M. Gimmestad. Both men were once associated with the Bonnet Prairie, Wisconsin congregation, with Lars becoming the pastor there in 1897. Preus spent 22 years as pastor of Our Saviour Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The inscription is undated, but another title we have has a similar inscription dated July 1896. The ink used for the inscription shows through on the other side of the endpapers and a small bit on the title page, which also shows some foxing. On the inside of front cover is the bookplate of Lars' son, Herman Gimmestad. Front hinge is tight. Rear hinge shows a thin line crack. A scarce book with excellent Lutheran associations. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 124229
