Blue cloth. Inscribed by famed naval architect, Smithsonian institute Curator and popular nautical author Howard I. Chapelle. The volume is from the library of renowned model ship builder and restorer, Charles Newcomb, whose collections populate museums across the United States, including the Smithsonian, and who restored one of Franklin D. Rooselelt's model ships. The book is inscribed to "Pinky", in 1937, when Chapelle was 36 and entering his prime. Newcomb was a close friend of Chapelle's, though it is not known who "Pinky" is. Binding worn and rubbed with a weak rear hinge. Cloth hanging strip bound in has been cut. Lacking dust jacket. Bookseller Inventory # 5736
