About this Item
Circa 1930s 10" x 7" green string-bound album with "Photographs" on the cover in gold and an impression of two deer. The first page of the album states that this is an album for the "Girl Scout Photographer's Badge, Troop 8" put together by a girl whose name is Ruth Happell. Contains nine black and white photos from the 1940s measuring between 2.5 x 3.5 which are glued to the pages and accompanied by slightly faded handwritten annotations. These annotations describe the prompts that Ruth had to follow for the badge, including "Picture of a person", "Picture of a building", and "Good composition", among others. There is a page of cut out pictures of a Kodak camera labeling the parts of the camera, several photos cut out from magazines and a page for a negative which is missing its picture. After the photos there are several pages of typed answers to questions about photography. Such answers include: "Composition is the ordered arrangement of light, shade, color, and line"; "Dust and Dirt on the lens of a camera causes the print to be covered with a film"; and "In printing the picture one must have the negative which is used to impress the figures and characters on paper. When this is done you have a finished picture." The album is not entirely filled. Seller Inventory # 558
