Synopsis: Legend has it that a golem was a man-made man created from earth by kabbalistic magic to protect the Jews against the consequences of the historic blood libel. The blood libel was a lie that said that the Jews killed gentile children to obtain blood for their Passover celebration. The libel incited the Christian community to rise up against the Jews, set fire to their homes, and commit murders, massacres, and pogroms against them. In Howard Rubenstein's play, the questions arise, Will the golem succeed in its mission as protector? Can a golem ever succeed?
