Book Description Privately Printed Riverside Press, 1933. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Special Edition. 25 x 16 cm. .223 pages of uncritical adulation for American millionaire philanthropist.published privately and lavishly illustrated including magnificent rose tinted photograph of Mrs Hoff in full glory. Surely she must have been the model for the Margaret Dumont roles in the classic Marx Brothers films of the 1930's? This wonderful book shows Mrs Hoff surrounded by grateful recipients of her bounty and views of her French chateau home. Written by an adoring personal secretary the book is an insight into the divisions of the 1930s in both The US and in Western Europe. As an example of the publishing standards of the era it is very impressive and must have sat well in Mrs Hoff's famous library. This is an item from her library. Unfortunately the blue weave cover is spoilt by water stains on the spine. To compensate for this the purchaser of this item will receive as a gift a copy of Grace Whitney Hoffs 'A Message for Today.' A privately printed (1910) as new volume of thoughts.365 of them.a book the great lady would hand out to her guests as they departed from her chateau Le Moulin de Peyrieu. This is not a joke but a genuine offer.a gift in a sense from Mrs Hoff herself. Seller Inventory # ABE-15004272226
