Probable 19th century rebinding as endpapers and flyleaves are quite different stock than text leaves. Quarter-leather binding. Spine leather with six slightly raised bands and still bright gilt stamped lettering within title compartment second from head; spine head worn with small loss, large loss and tearing within the 5cm of heel compartment leaving quires exposed. Patches of peeling to board leather adjacent to spine. Bluish-green marbled paper boards heavily rubbed with wear at edges particularly at fore-edge corners. Splitting at front and rear joints causing front board to have some pliability; text block remains firmly bound. Title pages printed in red and black. Dictionary comprised of double column text with letters A-L in First Volume and M-Z in Second Volume. B/w engraved frontispiece portrait of Jeremy Collier opposite First Volume title page. Past owner's pencil signature (E.H. Peck) on front pastedown. Interior leaves vary from bright white to strong toning with occasional foxing; several page corners creased. A good antiquarian copy. Published with a Supplement which is not present.
