About this Item

First American edition. Frontispiece and 11 other black and white, full page illustrations by W.S. Stacey. With a map of the Grecian Archipelago. 8vo, brown cloth with gilt and colour illustration on front cover and spine. Lettered in black and gilt. 408, 26 ads. A near fine copy, cloth rubbed very lightly and spine ends bumped. A young boy and his father on a privateer rescue Christians and aid the Greek in the battle against the Turks. Possibly one of the most popular boy’s adventure writers of all time. In each, a boy finds himself caught up in one of the great adventures of history. While his stories span all ages and civilizations, he captures the true spirit of the Victorian age of exploration. Bookseller Inventory # 13833
