About this Item

In "Guilt," Caryll Houselander examines the sense of guilt everyone has. She starts by looking at both personal sin and the sin of Mankind. From there she goes on to establish the relationship of man with God in Christ, from a Catholic perspective, which is the norm of mental and spiritual health and shows how inevitably deviations from the norm produce psychological ailments. She contrasts the sense of guilt in the saint where it works for fuller integration and in the neurotic where it works for destruction. The last section is a series of examples to show how her ideas apply in the lives of people such as St. Benedict, St. Therese, Kafka, and the Dusseldorf murderer. This copy was published by Sheed & Ward, New York, in 1951. Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur dated 1951. This copy is clean and solid with the dust jacket in mylar. Bookseller Inventory # 006100
