Book Description Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc.,, Garden City, NY:, 1929. First edition.. O'NEILL, Rose. GARDA [A Novel]. Octavo, blue cloth stamped in gold and maroon, pp. xiv, 306 (illustrated with color pictorial endpapers by the author), illustrated [bound into the book, as an illustrated supplement, following the table of contents page, is an 8-page booklet, "My Sketch Book," with illustrations by Rose O'Neill]. "Garda" is a tale of Narcissa and Narcissus. "This is a book in which the artist's sensitivity to color and line and the poet's lyric exaltation are transferred to prose" (from the dust jacket). Rose O Neill was born on June 25, 1874 in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania. She is best known as an artist, and became the highest paid woman illustrator of her time. A near fine copy in very good dust jacket. The striking pictorial jacket (illustrated by the author), has bit of faint dust soiling, with light wear and few short creased tears to extremities, else quite bright. An elusive title in dust jacket. Seller Inventory # 62583
