About this title

Garden of Sorrows is a testimony that demonstrates the importance of faith and medical science working together for the glory of God. Mental illness, especially depression, if not treated at its early stages of development can lead to self-- destructive behavior. There are many religious persons that believe seeking medical treatment for mental illness is an indication of their lack of faith. One of the main reason why I decided to write this book is to let others know that when a person begins to demonstrate symptoms of mental illness he or she should seek treatment at the beginning not when he or she ends up in an emergency room because of a suicide attempt. Our faith lets us know that God does care for us especially when we feel that there is no hope in life, love, and the things of God. When sorrows come God always cares. He knows our sadness. He hears our prayers. And comforts us until heartaches cease. He is our strength, our hope, our peace.

About the Author:

Dr Michael J. Plezbert, the author of "Garden of Sorrows," decided that what he wrote about himself should not become public information. Then he realized that by not publishing the book he would only be hiding the truth. The truth was in his struggle with mental illness that can be traced back to when he was an abused and neglected child. When Dr. Plezbert began to suffer from sever depressions he neglected psychiatric counseling and as a result ended up in an emergency room. He then began his road to recovery by the help of a Psychiatrist. When Dr. Plezbert wrote "Garden of Sorrows" he felt that writing about his experiences would be of no value unless the reader can learn something from the experience in regards to life, love, and the things of God. When Dr. Plezbert recovered from his illness he went back to school and completed the requirements for the Doctor of Religious Studies Degree. Dr. Plezbert also has a Ph.D. in Psychology. Mental illness is not a respecter of persons.
