About this title:

Synopsis: "Isn't that interesting?" is the guiding refrain for Teresa Watkins, horticulturist, landscape designer, and environmental consultant. Teresa has been an avid reader, trivia buff, and researcher ever since she earned money to buy her first Ripley's Believe It or Not paperback at her elementary school book fair. Surrounded by a family of readers, books, and encyclopedias, Teresa's passion for acquiring and sharing information has blossomed into a career which combines her love of gardening and research with teaching how to protect our environment. Whether she's preparing for her weekly radio call-in show "In Your Backyard", writing an article based on her "Gardening with Soul" philosophy, planning her next workshop, or contributing to a horticultural database, Teresa scours the digital world to make sure she has the most current information to share and to find bits of wisdom, wit, and/or whimsy to share with her audiences. In the process, she has discovered quotes and facts are occasionally shared with incorrect attributions or out of context. This set Teresa on her quest to identify not only who said what but how, why, and when. As Abraham Lincoln said, you can't trust everything you read on the internet. A Gardener's Compendium: Gardening in a Twitter World In 140 Characters Or More is a collection of garden facts, quotes, anecdotes and history categorized by context into themes and appropriate hashtags. The broad scope of this series and the painstaking efforts Teresa has made to ensure the accuracy of the content and its source will make A Gardener's Compendium an invaluable resource for new gardeners, garden writers, bloggers, trivia fans, teachers, editors, researchers, social media enthusiasts, speakers, and anyone who desires to provide an interesting fact for presentations or is just looking for a source of like-minded inspiration. "All the books you read are so many gardens where you stroll." Blessèd Guerric d'Igny, (c.1080-1157), Cistercian abbot Liturgical Sermons: Volume1 and 2 Introduction and Translation by Monks at Mount St Bernard Abbey #Belgium #library #literature

About the Author: A Gardener's Compendium:  Volume 1 - Gardening with Life is the first book in a seven-volume ultimate resource series for gardening enthusiasts, social media, professional writers, garden bloggers, and trivia buffs.  This first volume includes chapters on life, death, and spirituality.

Watkins was already an avid reader and researcher when she started gardening over twenty years ago. A life-altering metaphysical experience after her mother's death motivated Watkins to switch careers from working at a desk to working in the dirt.Watkins' contagious enthusiasm and love of gardening in her landscaping workshops invigorates homeowners to be better stewards of the environment. Over 35,000 homeowners have been through her garden talks and landscape workshops. Her environmental education program's award-winning quarterly newsletters with gardening advice, bits of trivia, framed by botanical quotes, encouraged her compilation of gardening facts and lore.

Today, as a garden media communicator, landscape designer, and host of her own gardening radio show, In Your Backyard, she uses social media to help educate and promote sound environmental gardening practices.

Beginning seed starters and advanced Master Gardeners will enjoy A Gardener's Compendium seven-volume series. While most of her volumes' entries are Twitter-esque (140 characters or less), Watkins has selected longer --but abridged-- selections from ancient agricultural works and botanical classics, as well as modern fiction and non-fiction books, future volumes will include genres such as nature and wildlife, the arts and sciences, to film and television shows. With #hashtags, in-depth indices and bibliography, garden writers, journalists, and neophyte garden bloggers, will be able to quickly find a topic or themed quotation with the accurate quote and source for their articles, posts, tweets, and reading pleasure.
