A delightful collection of 'The Gem' magazine, exploring the adventures of the boys of St Jim's school. Three volumes of 'The Gem' a children's story paper established in 1907. In print until 1940 this particular publication largely printed stories about the adventures of the young boys at the fictional school 'St Jim's'. This set includes three magazines are dated and titles as follows: 'St. Jim's Without Masters' - August 4th 1934, 'The St. Jim's Explorers at Bay' - December 1st 1934 and 'Ragging the Saints!' -June 29th 1935. The stories were mostly written by Charles Hamilton, under the pseudonym Martin Clifford. Hamilton was best known for his long-running characters and serialised stories printed in numerous publications. A charming collection of children magazine's from the early 20th century. Three pamphlets, bound in the original paper wraps. Externally smart. Light age toning to the front and rear of each magazine. Stamp to the front of the paper wrap of volume XLVII, to the head, alongside a small ink inscription. Spots to the front board of volume XLVI. Light rubbing to the rear of each magazine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are clean, with some minor rusting to the staples binding the work. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 621C29
