About this Item

Publisher: Music Masters Date of Publication: 1968 Binding: spiral bound Edition: Condition: Very Good + Description: Couple of stain marks on bottom front. Front cover has a couple of fold marks and light rubbing to edges. Tableaux, for soprano, two speakers, small men's chorus, and twelve players. George Rochberg, (1918-2005) was an American composer of contemporary classical music. After a period of experimentation with serialism, Rochberg abandoned it after 1963 when his son died, saying that serialism was empty of expressive emotion and was inadequate to express his grief and rage. By the seventies he had become controversial for the use of tonal passages in his music. 51pp. Bookseller Inventory # 3003667
