This is a print by P.S. Duval, created in 1856 after an earlier "porthole" (circular) portrait by famed American artist Rembrandt Peale of "George Washington after the Battle of Princeton." In Duval's hands the portrait emerges as a large b/w lithograph in oval form, about 19 x 23 inches at widest measurements. Duval was noted in his day as a high-quality print maker. This pirint shows mild, even tanning. It is mounted on a cardboard backing.
