Printed by Richard Alsop. [10], 120, [2], v, [4], 10-59, [1] p.: frontispiece of Hero and Leander (published by I. Riley, 1809); 18 cm. Contemporary red calf spine and corners with marbled paper over boards. Gilt-tooled spine title "Georgics and The Bees" and gilt-ruled spine compartments. Old leather repair at head and tail of spine. All page edges yellow. Half-title: The Georgics, and The Bees. The Bees has separate pagination and separate title page: The Bees, from the Latin of J. Vaniere: being the fourteenth book of his Prædium Rusticum by Arthur Murphy (Middletown, (Conn.) Printed for I. Riley, New York. 1808). Both title pages are dated 1808, but the frontispiece is dated 1809. Early American Imprints, ser. 2 (Shaw & Shoemaker), 16620 (showing the same frontispiece, but lacking The Bees). Former owner inscription on blank leaf following front free endpaper: "Eva M. Serffert 1819." In Good Condition: rubbed; loss of original leather along back joint; old leather repair of spine; loss of leather at upper corner of front board; minor loss of paper along fore-edge of front board; brown stain along lower gutter and lower page edges throughout; tight.
