Gerry Mulligan and Horace Silver Original Vintage Concert Poster, Auditorium Maximum, [University of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany], Oct.8 , presented by Kurt Collien in cooperation with Norman Granz and designed by Gunther Kieser with the Michael & Kieser imprint to upper right margin. First Printing, A1 Format (approx. 33" by 23"/ 84 cm. by 59.7 cm), with light rubbing to left margin and shallow creasing to bottom left centre, tiny perforation to factory crease at bottom left of centre, else about near fine, bright with crisp factory folds, verso unmarked, stored flat. The poster was designed by Kieser exclusively for the German performances on this European tour by the two jazz luminaries and is uncommon, thus. Gunther Kieser (1930) is one of Germany's preeminent poster artists whose work can be found in the collections of major museums including, the Tokyo Museum, the Louvre and the Museum of Modern Art. He has had a prolific and varied career, during which his technically innovative, provocative and brilliant designs have kept him in the fore front of European poster art. Kieser is perhaps best known for his jazz and rock concert posters, and particularly for the work he did for the German concert producers Lippman & Rau from the 1950-80's, and for whom he effectively acted as in house designer. An uncommon and striking example of a vintage Kieser jazz poster in collectible condition. J1719. Bookseller Inventory #
