A circa early 1950s reprint of the 1928 edition, written by Thompson but founded on and continuing the famous Oz stories by L. Frank Baum (1856-1919); illustrations in black and white; number 21 of 38 Oz Books listed on back flap, with #38 being "The Hidden Valley of Oz," which was first published in 1951. Red boards with a color paste-on on the front board and black lettering on the spine. Book is square; the "This book belongs to" box on the page after the front endpaper is filled in with a name, else unmarked; age-toning to pages; bottom corners and spine ends of boards bumped; some wear at spine ends. The dust jacket is price-clipped; it has an separate acetate covering, which is yellowed and chipped at the spine ends; the dust jacket is heavily chipped and edgeworn; a three-inch closed tear to bottom of front panel; spine is sun-faded; Brodart protected.
