About this Item

The Cathedral Library Association, New York. 1903. Hardcover. This is a book about the story of the Virgin Mary, how her life went as she grew up in Nazareth with her mother Anne and her father Joachim. It follows through her early years, her service at the Temple, her dreams of the Messiah and her marriage to Joseph. The book is in very good condition. The pages are yellowed with time and slightly brittle at the edges. The edges of the pages are already rough from the printers method of cutting the paper. On page 15, it seems that the pages stuck together and some of the text was pulled off at the bottom paragraph. There appears to be minimal water distortions on the bottom right corner of each page; from page 1 to page 31. This discoloration does not affect the quality of the text. There are 24 black and white photo illustrations in this book that show classical work from various artists including: Fra Angelico, Giotto, Ittenbach, Muerillo, Raphael and more. The inside first page is signed, "Mrs. Leonard Marcos-Mothers Book." The cover shows minor bumping and wear at the corners, the front cover has a few spots, but overall is in good condition. Binding is tight, but it does seem the very bottom glue is becoming brittle and susceptible to cracking if care is not taken. Bookseller Inventory # 5039
