As early as 1888, the CPR had built a dining stop at Glacier (also Field) as a service to passengers while their trains negotiated the Big hill or coped with snow slides in the Rogers Pass. Soon Glacier joined Banff and Lake Louise railway hotels in their grandeur. By 1929 Glacier was gone. These 46 pages with Endnotes and INDEX describe the rise (and fall). B.W photos assist text . An 1888 watercolour painting by Bell-Smith adorns front cover. Similar one on back. B/W (large, mounted) photograph of Glacier House laid in. Read about : Wheeler Hut, Red House, Pauline Todd, Harry Abbott, and Asulkan Valley. One map on page 02. Cond : Paper wrapper is grey with yellow lettering.
