About this title

Street-smart, gutsy Latina cop Filomena "Fil" Buscarsela is back--in a hip hardboiled mystery as tough and complex as Filomena herself. When Fil hears of a fetid glass factory in a rundown New York City neighborhood, she quickly smells a rat. As Fil's nose for trouble draws her into a case chock-full of dangerous secrets--including toxic dumping, crooked local politics, and even murder--she must also juggle the demands of raising a four-year-old daughter alone and jumping feet-first into an exciting new romance.

"Sharp and sexy . . . Hilarious and exciting." --Chicago Tribune (on Soft Money)

"Wishnia's world is like a New York subway train--fast, loud, dirty, and dangerous--but it's well worth the ride with Filomena Buscarsela in the driver's seat . . .A hard-edged story gracefully told."--Booklist (on Soft Money)
