Synopsis: How could something as simple as a butter knife have the power to change his life forever? Dan is a 16 year old rock climbing enthusiast stuck inside on a rainy, summer day, and he is bored. They say curiosity killed the cat, but in Dan’s case it did anything but that. When Dan finds an antique butter knife, which holds some unusual properties, his life becomes anything but boring! Glint is a delightful blend of history, adventure, science fiction, and inspirational characters. Enjoy the fast pace of Glint, and the way time moves from present to past (Civil War) and back to present. Join Dan, and his two best friends, Ritchie and Jesse, as they challenge the world around them, and work to solve a mystery from the past revealed to them through time travel. Written with humor, energy, and insight about the way teen boys' heads work, Glint will engage even the most reluctant of readers, and definitely anyone who loves a good story.

About the Author: December 2016 Author of the Month Barnes and NobleJD Harper has always enjoyed reading. A child of the 70's, she grew up with RIF (Reading is FUNdamental)! Fond memories of numerous tables filled with books in her school's entryway free for the taking still abound in her head, and even to this day, make her stomach flitter with the excitement at the thought of selecting a new book just for her to take home. Fast forward many years, and imagine the frustration JD Harper experienced when her one and only child, a son, did not gravitate toward reading, let alone love to read...horrors! She was totally perplexed, and felt like a failure. How could her son did not like to read? She had read to him when he was little, encouraged him to read, took him to library-sponsored events, and spent countless hours in the local bookstores with him handling and admiring the plethora of books, but nothing worked! Determined to make her son a reader, JD Harper started reading the popular young reader books so she could "sell" her son on them. One day while volunteering in her son's middle school library, she was re-shelving a Will Hobbs book, and thought, 'What if the story took place in Chattanooga? An idea was born! JD Harper told herself that she would write a book that took place in Chattanooga, and maybe that would inspire her son to read. She published GLINT on 12-11-15."My hope is that GLINT is a fun, interesting and different enough story that it will engage even the most reluctant reader. I wanted the book to be educational, but not in a textbook kind of way...I wanted the reader to learn without realizing it, similar to how we learn when we go to a museum-educational facts sprinkled throughout a fun environment." -JD Harper
