More than twenty times the Bible refers to God as a steady Rock for His people. The symbol is an apt one. Rock is stable; our God is unchanging. Rock is durable; our God endures forever. We set our buildings on rock; our God is the sure foundation. A rock can cast a shadow; our God is a Shadow in a weary land. A rock can survive a storm; our God is a refuge. Rock is everywhere; our God is omnipresent. The similes would make a long list. This is a unique book. Three powerful preachers Ruthie Jacobsen, Dwight Nelson, and Fredrick Russell have contributed compelling insights into their own journey to the Rock. Their messages are biblical, personal, and passionate. They are also authentic, vulnerable, and motivating.
You will like the fact that these messages first saw the light of day as sermons preached to live congregations; for that reason they tend to carry the informality and brisk pace of the spoken word. You will find the book a joyous read and valuable in your journey, too.

Dwight K. Nelson, DMin has served as senior pastor of the Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI, since 1983. He is also adjunct professor of preaching in its theological seminary. Dr. Nelson was speaker for the Adventist church s Net 98 evangelistic series, the most far-reaching global satellite campaign ever conducted by the church. Fredrick A. Freddie Russell is lead pastor of the 4,000-member Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church in Atlanta, GA. While serving as president of Allegheny West Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Russell s passion was to see the spiritual strength of its 13,000 members enhanced and their prayer lives enriched. When called to Berean he brought that same focus into his pastoral agenda. He embraces the call of the Lord that, My house shall be called a house of Prayer. In his personal life and in his leadership, his passion is to keep the main thing, the main thing, and that is prayer. Weekly worship attendance at Berean is ostensibly the largest of any non-institutionally connected SDA church in North America.
He is married to Brenda, the love of his life; they are parents of two incredible young adults, a wonderful son-in-law, and an awesome grandson.
