About this Item

"Published September, 1924." "The Fairy Feast . . . The Goblins Weave a Spell . . . We Set Sail on the Goblin's Pool . . .In the Purple Deep Where the Naiads Sleep . . . The Snow Man and the Penguin People," etc. Gold gilt cover illustration dulled to perhaps 50 percent. Spine titles even further faded, though still legible. Book square and tight, but with considerable wear to corners and front board edges. Fabric fraying at top quarter-inch of spine. Hinges are fine. Silhouette fairy endpapers by the author are marvelous, as are the six color plates, which remain bright and clear. Unfortunately, six or seven interior pages have had their outside bottom corners torn away -- chunks from 3/4-inch to as much as two inches -- though this fortunately removes no text, thanks to the wide margins. Some foxing (or are those children's finger-smudges?) at pp. 15-21. And dampstain clearly visible to the outside inch-and-a-half margins of pp 119-126, including one color plate. Previous owner's name in pencil to top of FFE; "from Dr. B. Russman," also in pencil in the same hand, top inside back cover. A volume which has seen some use, though still charming and tightly bound. Reduced from $187. Bookseller Inventory # 000722
