About this title

Synopsis:

In this beautifully presented coffee-table edition, Gloria Joy captures the essence and spirit of women. The book depicts twenty-two paintings from the collection of well-known healer and writer W. Brugh Joy. This collector's edition is numbered and personally signed by the Prescott, Arizona artist. Overlays of poetry offer insight into the mystery and spirit of the feminine. Joy's paintings all incorporate a beautiful Goddess model with sculptures from museums and galleries throughout the world. The stone labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral is deeply etched into the book's cover to "Symbolize," as Gloria states so eloquently, "a journey through the entrance of a cave into the earth-womb and out again--the labyrinth represents life".

About the Author:

Artist Gloria Joy was born in Hollywood, California. She majored in fine arts at UCLA and she received a B.A. in Art with honors from California State University at Fullerton in 1975. In 1985, she toured the sacred sites of Greece and began the series of 22 Goddess paintings which are featured in the Goddess book.
