Paperback. 332 pages. Dimensions: 8.8in. x 6.0in. x 1.0in.Going Bush in the Long White Cloud is a hilarious tale of a man and his van travelling around New Zealand, or the Land of the Long White Cloud, as it is called in Maori. The van comes alive and quickly demonstrates a recalcitrant but likeable character more typical of an overweight schoolboy than a campervan. If you are currently travelling around NZ, you will find it easy to relate what you see and do to events in the book. But be careful! You risk getting thrown out of your backpackers accommodation for keeping others awake with your giggling! About the Author:

Born with a rugby ball in one hand and a map of the world in the other, Howard M Gaukrodger first took to the road at the age of 14, when his sparkling new, golden bicycle took him around the south-west of England on a two-week tour to muscular hell and back. It was these and other early adventures that fired his enthusiasm for recounting stories and led to early recognition and school prizes for English in 1974 and 1975.

The author completed his education with an Honours Degree in French, German and Economics at Loughborough University of Technology in 1978. During this time in England, and up to the time of starting his own company in Norway in 1985, Howard M Gaukrodger undertook many cycle tours throughout Europe and North Africa. With a keen eye, a reliable camera, and an extraordinary ability to learn foreign languages, he acquired a profound understanding of human behaviour and foreign cultures.

Following a period of time in South America, and fifteen years in Norway, the author felt drawn to the antipodes, and finally settled in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2001. It was at this time, he began work on rewriting his 1996 diary of travels through the country to create this, his first novel.

Howard M Gaukrodger now lives with his partner on the stunning island of Waiheke, just off the east coast of Auckland, and earns his living through teaching, translating, writing and computer programming.
