1st. edition, fine in beige boards, light brown cloth spine with gilt lettering. Minimal library markings, card pocket on back free endpaper, price notation upper corner front free endpaper. Fine+ dust jacket is almost like new in a protective mylar cover with flaps glued to boards. Author's photograph on back. Book is seventh in Harper and Row's Native American Publishing Program. These seventy-seven poems are the first collected edition of verse by Simon J. Ortiz, a leading Native American poet from New Mexico. The poetry is not all related to that area however and describes a four part cycle beginning in the Indian world, leaving it for a while on a meandering cross continental journey, and returning in the end to it's beginnings.
