While the binding is firm, both the front and back hinges have the webbing showing through where the ffep have separated, however the book is intact. The front and back free end papers have an ink illustration of a map of Fiddler's Gulch and the 150 papges are clean and unmarked. There are six full page ink illutrations to further enhance the story. The dust jacket features an illustration on both the front and back covers with an orange background. The spine edge is faded and there is some chipping at the top spine edge and the four corners. There is also a 1/4" by 3/4" open tear at the top edge of the back cover. There is a crease at the top of the back inside flap and the original list price of $1.50 still remains at the bottom. In this book Herbert and Jane, the now adult grandchildren of two mining partners who have buried their treasure from the old California mining days at Fiddler's Gulch, are separately attempting to find out if their ancestor's legend is true.
