About this title

Kimberly Julian, wife of PGA golf pro Jeff Julian, was forced to face the most unfathomable of circumstances when her new husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness eight months after they wed. This tender, disarmingly honest, and wry memoir, shares their story.
At the age of thirty, Kim Julian's life was coming together beautifully. A devoted mom and Branson performer, she had found the love of her life when she met Jeff Julian, a towering PGA tour player. Caddying for Jeff, she became integral part of the PGA world.
What Julian did not know was that their fortune as a family was about to become brutally upended. She battled conflicting feelings of guilt, anger, and grief, while addressing a societal expectation of smiling self-sacrifice. Through it all, flashes of joy and humor keep this moving story buoyant and hopeful, while offering astute comfort from a caregiver's perspective that is certain to resonate with anyone struggling with this complicated role, providing the wisdom and empathy to make it through challenging times.

About the Author:

Kim Julian was thirty years old when she met PGA Tour professional Jeff Julian. Shortly after the couple married, Jeff was diagnosed with ALS. She was Jeff's primary caregiver, and on July 15, 2004, became a widow at thirty-four years old. Previously, she was the public relations and marketing ambassador for The Yakov Smirnoff Show, in addition to performing in the production. She then traveled on the PGA tour with Jeff. When Tom Watson's caddy, Bruce Edwards, was also diagnosed with ALS, the Julians joined the Watsons and Edwards to found Driving 4 Life, an ALS fundraising campaign that raised over $9 million for research, and for which Kim oversaw the day-to-day operations until 2007. She earned her B.A. in psychology at Boston College, and was an Elizabeth A. Strain Scholarship recipient. Julian was honored with the 2002 Lou Gehrig/Catfish Hunter Humanitarian Award, and was a Massachusetts State Lottery "Friends of the Fairway" Honoree in 2006. She currently resides in Concord, Massachusetts.
