About this title

Synopsis:

It was somewhere in the seventies when old Peaceful Hart woke to a realization that gold-hunting and lumbago do not take kindly to one another, and the fact that his pipe and dim-eyed meditation appealed to him more keenly than did his prospector’s pick and shovel and pan seemed to imply that he was growing old.

About the Author:

American novelist and author of popular Western fiction. Bower was the first female writer to make a career out of this literary genre. Her sense of humour and the genuineness of her characters charm and captivate the readers even today. Most of her writings revolve around the subject of family ties and loyalty. Her first novel, Chip of the Flying U, was published in 1904 and was very well received. It was followed by 13 more tales featuring the Flying U. More than 60 of her novels were published till her death in 1940, while several others appeared posthumously. Bower's most celebrated titles include The Lonesome Trail (1909), Good Indian (1912), The Gringos (1913), The Flying U's Last Stand (1915), The Heritage of the Sioux (1916), The Eagle's Wing (1924), Laughing Water (1932), Spirit of the Range (1940), and The Family Failing (1941).
